Mirror, Mirror

Over at Squigglefly, their challenge is "Face your Fears". Yeah, I'm afraid of spiders, mice, things that go bump in the night but truthfully, I fear sagging, wrinkles and old age more!
Not long ago, I was in a quaint little store and came across a sign that said "Mirror, Mirror on the wall, what the heck happened?". Of course, I bought it right away!

I thought this image "Oh no she didn't" by Chesney Young worked perfectly with the sentiment. The flower embellie is actually a mirror, couldn't pass up attaching it to the card!
For Tuesday Trio's challenge, I followed their sketch (below) and used the following:
  • Something Old - as in "had it for along time" - The papers I used (stretching, I know)
  • Something New - The mirror
  • Something Borrowed - The Sentiment (am I stretching that one?!)
  • Something Blue - Eyes
I will be entering this card in the following challenges:
Squigglefly "Face your Fears"
Riley and Co. "Orange and Black"
Tuesday Trio "Sketch / Something Old, New, Borrowed, Blue"

Color Inspiration Challenge

It's inspiration challenge time over at Dude Time Doodles and this month, our inspiration is "Pink, Black & White".

All you have to do is use the photo inspiration above to create a masculine themed card - you are not required to use BDD images although it would make us really happy if you did! Be sure to link your creation using Mr. Linky over at Dude Time Doodles.

It's time to give Breast Cancer a karate chop and I thought Benny Hanna was just the one to spread the word! This photo doesn't do justice to the paper I used but believe me, it's beautiful in all it's different shades of pink. I used an embossing folder on the grey paper to add some texture, along with baker's twine and added a fishy charm cause the card needed something.
As you can see, I stuck with the same design on the inside as well and Best Fishes was the best I could come up with. I'm sure some of you have some very witty sentiments that would work better!
The rest of the Dudettes have some great creations to show off, so make sure you check them out and leave them some love.
Whatcha waiting for, get crafting!!

Fry-ends

These guys crack me up! Meet the Fry-ends by Fresh Brewed Designs.

I've had this image for awhile but wasn't quite sure what to do with them and never seemed to have the right papers, until now. I purchased a paper kit from Stamp by Step over the summer and it came with some fun BBQ papers, matching ribbon and embellishments. I know it's not prime BBQ weather (at least in my neck of the woods) but what the heck, I used them anyway!
I am entering this in the following challenge:
Cards for Men "Make us Laugh"
Take a Word "Childhood"

I was asked to make a card for my girlfriend's nephew who will be turning 7 on Halloween. She wanted a birthday card that incorporated Halloween so this is what I came up with.

For my project, I tried something completely new to me...talk about outside my comfort zone. I had no idea what I was going to create and tried a few new techniques and projects but I didn't like any of them. So there I sat in my dungeon (my boys have renamed my craft room) with my deadline looming and it's getting close to 10:30pm trying desperately to think of something.
My eye suddenly caught sight of a recycled icing tub that I have been hanging on to for whatever reason ... and I happened to have cookies in the cookie jar (at least I hoped I had some left after the boys took their turn in the jar).
Since I had already colored this fab Bugaboo Digi "Coffee Time - Thanks a Latte", I searched through my paper stash and came up with this:
I added some sparklies with my Spica markers, glossy accents (of course) and some puff paint and voila!
Phew, that was exhausting but once I had my idea and put it together, I was in bed just after 11:00pm! Now, if I can do something other than a card, you can too!!
Now the DT ladies at Stamptacular Sunday have some amazing projects, make sure you stop by and show them some love!
Happy Crafting - can't wait to see your creations!

Winter Project at Aud Sentiments

It's challenge time over at Aud Sentiments and we're asking you to make a Winter Themed project. This challenge is sponsored by Lili of the Valley.
The lucky winner will receive:
For my card, I used "Little Festive Robins". I blew the dust off my new watercolor pencils and went to work (I can't even remember when I bought them - I've never used them yet).
Yes, of course I used glossy accents! I also used my Spica pens and applied glitter on the outer rim of the circle. Finished it off with some red accents then added a Christmas Tree charm that I got from the Charm Barn.
Now make sure you head over to Aud Sentiments to check out the fab creations from the Design Team. When you're done drooling, start creating! Good Luck and Happy Crafting!
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Bah Humbug - Glitz & Glimmer
Christmas Crafting - Robin Red Breast
ABC Christmas Challenge - Unused Stash (my watercolor pencils)
Fab's Big Christmas Cards Challenge - Something shiny and/or snowflake

It's so Distressing!

For this weeks challenge at Stamptacular Sunday Challenge, we want you to create a card or a project using some sort of distressing technique. Ink it, tear it, sand it, scratch it, scrape it…the choice is yours as long as it’s distressed it counts!
You will have from now until midnight (EST) October 15th, 2011 to complete this challenge and post a DIRECT LINK to your submission into our InLinkz in order to be entered into the drawing for this week's fabulous prize donated by:

PRIZE: $20 Gift Certificate
and
PRIZE: Winner’s Choice of TWO Digi Images
I tried my hand at an accordion fold card this week, was it every easy! For a quick card, I recommend this fold. I used one of Elisabeth Bell's images "Lil Lynda's Piano Forte", isn't she adorable!
I colored her with my Copics and of course, can't make a card without Glossy Accents which I applied to her bow, the roses on her pillow, music note on the piano and the dog collar. I used Tim Holtz Distressing Ink, Black Soot to distress the edges.

The sentiment "It's the little things in life that mean the most" is from Ginger's House. I used a black & white frame from Creative Memories, attached some paper flowers inside the frame and there you have it.
Now it's your turn! Make sure you check out the amazing creations from our Stamptacular Sunday Design Team!

DTD goes Pink

Dude Time Doodles has decided to mix it up! For this challenge, we are asking you to "Think Pink" in support of National Breast Cancer Month. I decided to keep it simple with this gate fold card (one of my fave folds cause it's easy!!). I colored Jimmy Gymnastic with my Copics and went through my paper stash and found this kinda gender neutral pink paper (is there such a thing as gender neutral pink?) and matched it with some chocolate brown cardstock. I stayed with the polka-dot theme and punched out some brown cardstock dots and attached them to the side panel of the card.
To stay consitent with the embellies, I added a button on the inside as well.
To get your crafty mojo moving, make sure you check out the fab creations from our talented Design Team the get creating and add your creation via Mr. Linky over at Dude Time Doodles!
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
One Stop Craft Challenge "Just for Men"
Cards for Men "Sports"

You've probably guessed it by now ... I am thrilled to announce I am now a member of the very talented Stamptacular Design Team! For my first submission, I used "Heidi" by Victoria Case

I love Autumn, it is my fave season so making this card with all these colors was heaven. The papers are "Forever Fall" by Bo Bunny and to better showcase the amazing papers, I decided to create an easel card.
I colored Heidi with Copic markers, added glossy accents to her lips and pendant and the beer inside the mugs and puff paint to the beer foam. It may be hard to see but I also use Spica markers to add some sparkle to her eye shadow and earrings.
Now it's your turn! Make sure you head over to the Stamptacular Challenge Blog and check out the amazing creations of the Design Team.
