Christmas Cuties

With temperature at 41 degrees Celsius it's hard to think about Christmas!  It's too hot to be outside so here I sit in my craft room with the fan on high trying to stay cool, getting my card ready for a new challenge at Christmas with the Cuties.

Our theme for June is Christmas Cuties and our sponsor is Hetty Clare.  Hetty Clare has so many cuties to choose from and for  my card, this Christmas Cutie is Pony Ski.

I used Copic markers to match the Winter Fun papers by Carta Bella and Nuvo glitter drops on Santa's fur as well as the falling snow.  The Be Bright brad is from my stash.

I hope you are all staying safe and cool and thanks so much for stopping by!

Outside Fun with Katie & Kit

Ready for a new challenge?! Well, we're ready at Creative Knockouts and our theme for this challenge is Outside Fun.  Speaking of fun, our sponsor Laurie Furnell Ink has some cute and fun images to play with!

The image below is from the Katie & Kit Sunflowers collection.

I colored Katie with Copic markers then applied glossy accents in those spots I felt needed some popping.  I adore the little Kit at her legs, reminds me of our little one, Boo so I had to color her black.

The orange polka dot paper is from my stash and the printed verse is from the Summer Fresh paper pad by Simple Stories.  The polka dot layer is raised with foam tape so it hovers above the image and I added the button and flower cause it just needed something!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I look forward to seeing your Outside Fun creations!

Ribbon, Rope, Lace

Welcome back for a new challenge at Creative Sketchy Girls.  This month our theme is Ribbon, Rope or Lace, you get to choose!  Our sponsor for this challenge is StarStampz!

This little guy is Dennis, aptly named if you ask me!  You all remember Dennis the Menace, right or am I dating myself?!

I decided to create an ATC since I didn't realize that I printed the image a bit on the smaller side.  I colored Dennis with Copic markers then framed the image with black cardstock.  I added some twine or rope at the top of the image and stamped the sentiment with Versamark onto black cardstock, sprinkled it with white embossing powder and set the heat gun to it.

I think he's pretty darn cute!

At/In the Water at Creatalicious Challenges

Creatalicious Challenges has a new challenge with a fabulous sponsor, Colour of Love.  As always, the theme is ATG w/Optional Twist: At/In the Water.

For my card, this image is Rory's Jellyfish - perfect for our theme twist!

I reshaped the image in MS Word and tho it didn't match any of my oval die-cuts, I fussy cut around the image then measured the shape and cut out the orange background.  Since my cutting wasn't perfect, I used a distressing tool and went around the edges for some texture.

I colored Rory with Copic markers then added some Nuvo glitter drops, glossy accents and sequins.  To create the background I used Distress Inks, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers and Blueprint Sketch then sprayed the card with water and went to work drying it.

I stamped the sentiment (Simple Sentiments by Whimsy Stamps) on orange paper then finished putting the card together.  I'm super happy with how it turned out.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I look forward to seeing your creations!

Make a Wish

Welcome back for our Anything Goes Challenge at Creative Knockouts!  Our sponsor for this challenge is Hetty Clare and my oh my, it's so difficult to choose just one image!

I fell in love with Make a Wish and got down to business.

I completely enjoyed coloring this image and wasn't really sure how I was going to showcase it.  Previous to coloring I received a new stamp set and was playing with it and created a few backgrounds with heat embossing and distress inks.  This particular background had just been sitting there and when I finished coloring the image I thought it would work for this creation - plain and simple.

I found the heart ribbon and green button in my stash and decided to dress it up a bit, I think it works!

Heat Embossed Snowflakes

I can't believe we've hit June, how can that be?  If sunshine and flowers are any indication then June it must be!

Christmas Craft Creations has a new challenge and our theme this month is Heat Embossing - time to warm up those heat guns!

The prize for this challenge has been donated by our own Maaike.  The winner will receive a Simon Says Message Banner die, you can see it here.

For my card I pulled out a few snowflake stamps from my stash and used Versamark to stamp the images onto white cardstock.  I used white embossing powder, making sure to cover all the images then set the heat gun to them.

After the snowflakes were set I used Dusty Concord, Blueprint Sketch and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks to create the background then took a spray bottle to the card.  After it was dry I decided to add the sentiment using silver embossing powder.  Once that was set, I sprayed some shimmer spritz over the entire card, added a bit of bling and some silver string to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to seeing your creations! Remember to add our Challenge Badge to your post for your chance to win!

Christmas is for the birds

Welcome back for a new challenge at Winter Wonderland! Our theme this month is Christmas Birds and our fabulous sponsor is Imagine that Digistamp and the lucky winner will receive 3 digis of their choice!

This darling bird is Christmas Owl and is the perfect image for our challenge!  I used Copic markers to color the image, Nuvo Glitter Drops were added on the snow and added glossy accents to various places for that extra dimension.

To finish the card off I added the sentiment along with a couple of enamel dots and candy cane.

I hope you have time to join us for this challenge, just think that's one more Christmas card for your stash!

BBQ Dad - Happy Father's Day

For the Boys is our challenge theme at Creative Knockouts and our fabulous sponsor is none other than Dr. Digi's House of Stamps!  They have a huge variety of manly images and for my creation I picked BBQ Bill.

When I first started making cards, my forte was masculine cards.  My boys were young so I was just focused on card making for them and their buddies. I found it really difficult to transition into making feminine cards, I actually hated it - all the sparkle and fluff (tee hee).  Now it seems I don't make many masculine cards and I had so much fun making this one.

I colored Bill and his BBQ with Copic markers and decided to try my hand at a double easel card.  It took a few tries to get the measurements right and overall I'm happy with the turnout.  I was having some issues with it standing on it's own so I decided to use twine to keep it standing (see below).

What's nice about this fold is it's compact and can be mailed in a regular sized card envelope.  There are a few things I would adjust but that's for another time!

The inside sentiment is from the Father's Day digital set by Whimsy Stamps and the outside is from Paper Smooches Uplifters (I'm so sad the shop is now closed). I used a screw head brad to attach the bread-clip embellie or as the package says "market tags" by I kan'dee and I have been hanging on to these for many years (not sure why) and is the first time I've opened the package.

I hope you are able to join us and enter your creation here for a chance to win 2 digis of your choice!

Festive Furries & Feathers

It's time for a new challenge at Christmas with the Cuties!  Our theme this month is "Festive Furries & Feathers".  What that means is we would love to see those cute animals and/or birds on your creation.

For this card I chose to work with Snowman and Friends by Polkadoodles.  I used Copic markers to color the image and then added glossy accents and Nuvo Glitter Drops (White Blizzard).

The papers are from the Winter Wonderland Collection by Doodlebug and the sentiment is from Merry Up by Penny Black.

Thanks so much for stopping in and I look forward to seeing what you create!

Sketch Challenge - Oddball Art

Welcome back for a new monthly challenge at Creative Sketchy Girls!  This month we have a sketch for you and I look forward to seeing your interpretations!

Our sponsor for this challenge is Oddball Art and the lucky winner will receive 3 digis of their choice!

This image is Fairy Girl in Heart Antennas and comes with two sentiments (not shown).  I colored her with Copic markers and the love sentiment was computer generated.

I dug through my papers and came across these in my Valentine's Day stash and thought they worked well with my coloring.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I look forward to seeing your sketch interpretations!
