BBQ Dad - Happy Father's Day

For the Boys is our challenge theme at Creative Knockouts and our fabulous sponsor is none other than Dr. Digi's House of Stamps!  They have a huge variety of manly images and for my creation I picked BBQ Bill.

When I first started making cards, my forte was masculine cards.  My boys were young so I was just focused on card making for them and their buddies. I found it really difficult to transition into making feminine cards, I actually hated it - all the sparkle and fluff (tee hee).  Now it seems I don't make many masculine cards and I had so much fun making this one.

I colored Bill and his BBQ with Copic markers and decided to try my hand at a double easel card.  It took a few tries to get the measurements right and overall I'm happy with the turnout.  I was having some issues with it standing on it's own so I decided to use twine to keep it standing (see below).

What's nice about this fold is it's compact and can be mailed in a regular sized card envelope.  There are a few things I would adjust but that's for another time!

The inside sentiment is from the Father's Day digital set by Whimsy Stamps and the outside is from Paper Smooches Uplifters (I'm so sad the shop is now closed). I used a screw head brad to attach the bread-clip embellie or as the package says "market tags" by I kan'dee and I have been hanging on to these for many years (not sure why) and is the first time I've opened the package.

I hope you are able to join us and enter your creation here for a chance to win 2 digis of your choice!

Festive Furries & Feathers

It's time for a new challenge at Christmas with the Cuties!  Our theme this month is "Festive Furries & Feathers".  What that means is we would love to see those cute animals and/or birds on your creation.

For this card I chose to work with Snowman and Friends by Polkadoodles.  I used Copic markers to color the image and then added glossy accents and Nuvo Glitter Drops (White Blizzard).

The papers are from the Winter Wonderland Collection by Doodlebug and the sentiment is from Merry Up by Penny Black.

Thanks so much for stopping in and I look forward to seeing what you create!

This image is Fairy Girl in Heart Antennas and comes with two sentiments (not shown).  I colored her with Copic markers and the love sentiment was computer generated.

Beauty

Welcome back for our new challenge at Creatalicious Challenges! As always our theme is ATG with an optional "Twist".  Our twist for this challenge is "For a Woman".

Our fab sponsor for this challenge is SheepSki Designs and the lucky winner will received 3 digis of their choice.

This lovely image is Cat and when I saw this image the first person that came to mind was my friend Nubia.  She is strong, confident, beautiful and wise beyond her years.  She is from Mexico City and has a fiery personality that goes along with her beautiful accent.  Nubia can pull off any hairstyle and she usually surprises us with vibrant colored hair. This card is a tribute to a very special woman.

I colored the image with Copic Markers then added glossy accents to her eye and lips.  For the layout I cased a design from a very talented lady, Shani.  Shani always has the most amazing papers and I love how she matches and layers - yes, I'm a big fan!

The papers have been in my stash for literally years and I often wonder why I hang on to them and never use them.  The flowers are by Prima Flowers and the sentiment....well I searched high and low for something that would work.  I even considered printing something but that was too easy to make a mistake.  I went through every stamp I owned multiple times, nothing.  I was about to give up when I turned in my chair, staring at my shelves and realized I have a box of Close to my Heart stamps sets that I hadn't looked through, SCORE!

The sentiment is from the Playful Flourishes collection and it was even curved, perfect for this image. I am on a complete ramble tonite and for those of you who have actually taken the time to read all of it, I applaud you :)  As I look at the finished product, I have an issue with picking the right size when I work with square cards - I seem to have so much left over space.  I am always sure the size I pick is perfect for the image size and I'm always wrong and feel like I need to keep adding things to fill up the space, sigh .. one day.

Okay, I promise I'm done with my chatter and would like to thank those of you who have taken the time to visit and read and I truly hope you have a chance to play along with us at Creatalicious Challenges!

Flower Power at Creative Knockouts

As the saying goes,  April showers bring May flowers.  With that in mind, Creative Knockouts has a new challenge celebrating "Flower Power".

Our sponsor is SheepSki Designs and the lucky winner of this challenge will receive 3 images of their choice!

This image is Tulip Border which was printed on X-press It paper and colored with Copic markers.

As usual, this is not my first attempt.  I originally started creating clouds in the background which did not work at all so I tried covering the clouds with distress inks similar to above.  It actually turned out but after I stamped and set the embossed sentiment I thought I would outline the tulips in gold.  That did not go well. My pen was way too thick and when I tried to quickly wipe the gold off it made a huge mess. Back to the drawing board.

The sentiment is from the Happy Sentiments collection by Crafter's Companion.  Distress Inks used: Faded Jeans, Tumbled Glass, Shaded Lilac, Mowed Lawn, Shabby Shutters.

Christmas Tags at Christmas Craft Creations

Christmas Craft Creations has a new challenge this month and our theme is Tags or ATC.  If you're not sure what ATC means, it's Artist Trading Cards.  These cards are small, 3.5" x 2.5" in size.  The choice is yours!

This month's prize was donated by our one and only Lynne! For your chance to win this beautiful tag die, remember to add our challenge badge to your post.

For my tag I used The Big Family of Little Snowman stamp set with matching dies.

I colored the little fellas with Copic markers and used the dies to cut them out.  The circles were cut from stitched circle dies and I also used hillside dies to make the snowbank with glitter paper for that sparkle.  I stamped a few snowflakes then used pop dots on the snowmen and sentiment for some dimension.

The sentiment is from the Puffy Holiday Greetings collection by Mama Elephant and finished it off with red gingham ribbon.

I look forward to seeing your ATC's or Tags so make sure to link them up here and remember to include our Challenge Badge for your chance to win!

Winter Sports at Winter Wonderland

Time for a new challenge at Winter Wonderland! Our theme for this challenge is Winter Sports and we have a wonderful sponsor, All Dressed Up.

This darling image is Sledging Pup and is showcasing a popular winter sport, one of my faves truth be told!

I colored the image with Copic markers and use circle Spellbinders on the image and red accent.  The background papers are all digital and purchased from Etsy (here and here). The sentiment is from the Puffy Holiday Greetings stamp set by Mama Elephant.

To finish it off I added some enamel dots, a button and snowflake.

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to seeing your creations!

Sketchy Girls BINGO Challenge Reminder

Welcome to the first reminder of our BINGO Challenge at Creative Sketchy Girls!

Our Sponsor this month is De Egel and they have graciously provided a wonderful prize for the winner of this challenge.

For my reminder card, I chose to follow the right line of the BINGO card - Ribbon, Gems, Yellow.

I used a No-name stamp set that I picked up at a local Thrift store and stamped the feather and sentiment with Versamark.  I sprinkled white embossing powder on the feather and gold over the sentiment then set the heat gun to it.

Once the embossing powder was set I used daubers with Distress Inks (Spiced Marmalade, Worn Lipstick, Mustard Seed) over the feather and then gave a light spray of Antiqued Bronze Mica.  I finished it off with gold ribbon on the top and two pink gems near the bottom.

You have until May 19th to link up your creation here. I look forward to seeing your creations!

Monster Truck TIC-TAC-TOE Challenge

Hello one and all! Time for a new challenge at Creative Knockouts!  This go-around we have a TIC-TAC-TOE Challenge for you.

Our fabulous sponsor is Jodie from Bugaboo Digi Stamps and the lucky winner will receive two digi images from her store!

Raising two boys meant our house was full of trucks ranging in all shapes and sizes.  I actually took my youngest to a Monster Truck show so when I saw this image Monster Truck I knew I had to have it!

My Tic-Tac-toe choices are Embossing (dry), Image and Sentiment.

No-name Slimline die-cuts were used to create this card and I wish I made the trucks a bit smaller as I originally envisioned 5 trucks on the front however I was able to use the remaining two trucks elsewhere!

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the trucks then colored them with Copic markers.  Hillside die-cuts and an embossing folder were used to simulate dirt hills for the trucks to "drive" over.  The two outer trucks were taped flat and the middle truck has a spring backing (see below) so it moves and bounces.

As an afterthought I added the banner flags, this proved a bit more difficult since the two trucks were quite stuck to the paper so I reduced the number of flags. The sentiments are computer generated and as you can see, the last two trucks were used on the envelope as well as on the inside.

I really, really enjoyed making this card and it brought back a lot of memories of a time long ago when my boys were young, loud, dirty, stinky and above all, happy & loved.  Boys rock!

Christmas Stockings

Welcome! Today starts a new challenge at Christmas with the Cuties! Our theme for this challenge is Stocking Fillers, so we want to see you use Stockings on your card!

Our Sponsor for this challenge is My Besties and one lucky winner will receive three digital images from their fabulous shop, thank you Sherri!

For my card I used Steampunk Christmas Sock.  I colored the image with Copic markers and used my Silhouette Cameo to cut around the image.  It's hard to see in the picture but I added some gold cord pieces to the back of the stocking before adding pop-dots to the back.  The paper is from the Nutcracker Sweet Collection by Graphic 45.  For the sentiment I pulled out my ancient Dymo Labeler and added Ho Ho Ho.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!
